ICT 201-Management Information System-hypertext, hypermedia, and multimedia

Nama   : Septiana Wahyu Setyaningrum
NIM    : 2201412053

This is the first assignment on ICT class and I really enjoy it. Here I deliver 5 points:
 1. Management Information System

This is a system that provide information needed to manage organization effectively. MIS involves three primary resources: technology, information, and people (http://vincentpage.blogspot.com/). Those components rely on others, they can not stand alone, because one to another make system run well. The term technology tend to the using of computer or any gadget to acquire information by gathering data and processing data to be the valuable, effective and efficient by the user called human.
2. Hypertext

Hypertext is basically the same as regular text - it can be stored, read, searched, or edited - with an important exception: hypertext is text with pointers to other text. The browsers let you deal with the pointers in a transparent way -- select the pointer, and you are presented with the text that is pointed to (http://www.rc.au.net/papers/www-0595/wwwhype2.html).
Hypertext refers to the use of hyperlinks (or simply “links”) to present text and static graphics. Many websites are entirely or largely hypertexts. Hyperlinks give us choices when we look for information (http://faculty.washington.edu/farkas/dfpubs/Farkas-Hypertext%20And%20Hypermedia.pdf)
So here hypertext is that information of one text can connect with another information of different text.     Actually the meaning hyper text here is unlike reading book where you just read from the beginning to end and read it linear. When you search the word Indonesia in internet, there will show text that give information. Then when you click one of word that have link in the text it will connect to another text that will also give another information.
3. Hypermedia

Hypermedia is different from hypertext. Hypermedia is the generalization of hypertext to include other kinds of media: images, audio clips and video clips are typically supported in addition to text(http://www.iicm.tugraz.at/0x811bc82b_0x0005f59f). Hypermedia documents contain links not only to other pieces of text, but also to other forms of media - sounds, images, and movies. Images themselves can be selected to link to sounds or documents (http://www.rc.au.net/papers/www-0595/wwwhype2.html). What make hypertext and hypermedia are different is if hypertext just the connection between one text to others, but here in hypermedia it’s not only text but also audio, image, graphics, and video are interconnected to each other creating a compilation of information. The example of hypermedia application is the World Wide Web (WWW).
4. Multimedia

Multimedia uses computers to present text, audio, video, animation, interactive features, and still images in various ways and combinations made possible through the advancement of technology (http://internships.about.com/od/internshipsquestions/g/whatismultimedia.htm). Multimedia tends to feature several media or is made up of more than one medium types such as text, sound, video and image. A Multimedia  product (application) uses a combination of images, text, video and sounds to present information. The example of multimedia application are, offline dictionary and Micro. Encharta, and computer games.
5. Conclusion

That my understanding towards MIS, hypertext, hypermedia, and multimedia. As an ICT student those will help me in improving my knowledge about ICT. In my opinion, for education especially between teachers and students those give benefit to them. They easily search information on internet, because it has connection to others. Then using multimedia will make the learning process more fun.
