I AM STILL LEARNING

Hi...this is me. It was a long time since this blog was not used again. Actually, this was a blog for posting task of my lecturing. However, I think it will be fine to posting anything in this blog. I have many plans of writing here. Maybe writing a translation in a week, writing biography of someone, writing short story and maybe an English lesson. By doing this, I like to sharpen my English. It just a fine activity although no one will read. It's OK heheh. I hope that my writing skill will improve and many vocabularies will increase.

The next webinar is Webinar 16.5 Introducing the New Forum. There are 3 goals of webinar. They are introduce the new contents of FORUM, highlight professional development opportunities FORUM provides and demonstrate how to get the most out of FORUM. So FORUM can be found in americanenglish.state.gov and click English Teaching Forum. There are many section of this forum such as Articles, Readers’guide, Teaching Techniques, My Classroom, Try This And The Lighter Side. In the Articles section,  we can find Theory & Practice, Accessible, and Tool for Professional Development. In the Reader’s Guide, we can find pre- and post-reading questions, helps navigate readers through the articles, and guide for individuals or groups. Then in Teaching Techniques, of course it contains various teaching techniques that teacher can apply in the class or students like me can learn it for future. In My Classroom section, it explores English teaching in a specific country, through the eyes of a local teacher and gain insights into how to make the classroom a more communicative experience. Next, in Try This, it presents one teaching activity in step-by-step detail, gives options for using the activity with different ability levels or in different teaching contexts, and provides extra examples and handouts.

Overall this Forum is helpful for English teacher and students of English Education like me. So many important things that I have to read and learn more.

    To me blended learning is really good learning concept. In blended learning it combines face-to-face and online instruction. It allows students to work with teachers in school and have online resources at home(http://olecommunity.com/blended-learning-what-is-it-and-why-is-it-trending-in-k-12-education). Usually in classroom it is just face to face learning where teacher explaines the material and students are listening. But here it combines with virtual(online) learning. The blended learning itself has some advantages for students, for example it provides individualized support, it is available material anytime, anywhere, it is provides richer, more interactive learning experiences, provides more time collaboration with other students and teachers. In addition parents have access to what students are doing-better communication and support. Beside that the teaching and learning process will improved and the students and teacher will increase(adapted from http://olecommunity.com/blended-learning-what-is-it-and-why-is-it-trending-in-k-12-education). However if there are no technology, laptop, computer, internet it will be a matter. In addition if the students/teachers are not computer literate, it will be a matter too. So here if those things can be overcome, the blended learning itself can work well.

      I just realize I think what we have done in ICT class is blended learning. Because we and the teacher uses laptop and do online. The teacher also give instruction that we have to do in online. Like we have to download, read, and make summary and then we have to post it in blog.

In the future as an English teacher, I will take advantages of this learning concept.  I will teach by combining face to face learning and virtual.
